The Six Simple Machines
In class we have been discussing Simple Machines. More specifically, we have been looking at the 6 main Simple Machines that help make everyday work easier. Can you remember what they are? Can you think of an example from everyday life for each one?
The 6 Simple Machines we have been focusing on are:
1. The Pulley
Examples: A flag pole, a crane, a clothes line, a window blind.
2. Wheel & Axel
Examples: A car, a bicycle, a Ferris Wheel, a wheel barrow, a door knob.
3. Lever
Examples: A seesaw, scissors, a rake, a stapler, a hammer, a fork.
4. Screw
Examples: A bottle cap, a door lock, a swirly chair, cork screw opener.
5. Incline Plane
Examples: Ladders, wheel chair ramp, slide, roller coaster, dump truck, stairs.
6. Wedge
Examples: A door stop, a zipper, a chisel.
